Back to School Goals 2014-2015

I'm linking up with Jess from I (heart) Recess to talk about goals for this coming school year!

I always set little goals (in my mind), but I never take the time to actually write them out.

Personal: I didn't take a whole lot of time for myself last year, let alone with my husband.  I always brought work and stress home.  Not good for a new marriage.  This year, I plan on spending more afternoon time for myself and my husband.

Organization: Emails!  Oh I am SO bad with emails!  I was lucky enough to have a team that would call me on the phone and let me know what was going on because they knew I was bad about checking emails.  One thing that I started to do at the end of the year was just leave the screen up and I could see what was coming through.

Planning: I'm pretty good with making plans for the week, but never more than that.  I want to try to work on planning for more than one so I can have more personal time.

Professional:   EVERYBODY has an opinion.  BUT, not everybody's way of doing things will necessarily work for you, nor will your way work for somebody else.  Keep and open mind and listen, rather than argue.  It will make for a happy place :)

Students: Do we NOT keep enough data on students?!?  We administer the MCLASS for our students, but I want to keep more records for my personal information this year.

What are your goals for this school year?

  1. I am the absolute WORST at checking emails! It just seems like such a simple timeless task but I never get around to it! and I really need to come up with a better system for student data.. any tips? haha I hope you have a great school year!

    1. The only thing I can say is that I ended up leaving my email screen up throughout the day and would glance at anything that would come through! When it comes to student data, I have a binder that have tabs labeled with every one of my students. We do MCLASS, so when the assessments are complete, I print them out and keep them in that binder. And throughout the year, I make sure I keep running records, sight word checks, etc. in that binder as well. I also have a box with file folders that I keep tests, writing samples, drawings, etc. so that I can just pull them during conferences and such. Hope that helps!
