Five for Friday! And 10 More Days!!!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!
I'm seeing the light a the end of the tunnel!  We have 2 weeks left!

So, I showed my husband this picture from Pinterest and said "Oh, this would look cute in our bathroom..."

I woke up to this...

This is not what I meant!  I'll let you know how it turns out!

Two of my lovely ladies are getting a little prezzie this week!
Erin from The Short and Sassy Teacher and Kristin from My Carolina Classroom are getting a little happy, happy, happy from me!  Love these girls!  They are so stankin' sweet - y'all should check them out!

Um, HELLO!  One of the GREATEST things since...I don't know...
Do you GONoodle???
I'm in a mobile unit so I don't have a Smartboard but I do have a projector so I'm able to put the Internet onto the whiteboard.  We have literally FIVE MINUTES from the time we come in from recess to the time we switch classes for intervention and this is PERFECT for those five minutes.

It gets my little friends calm and ready to work again.

Aw...my new husband is so sweet!
(He left for a work trip in Georgia.)
And then the note...
Yes - thanks for the reminder about the trash dear.

I'm really excited about this project I'm working on for next year!

It's a huge phonics pack for interactive notebooks.  It's not completely done yet, but I do have half of it ready to print.  Right now it's great for those students with the "I'm DONE!" syndrome.
Here...work on this...

So link up!  School is almost out!

Summer Reading Linky Party!

I'm linking up with Marie from The Hands-On Teacher in First for a little summer reading par-tay!
Hmmm...What's on my summer reading list????

I do want to read this.  It was sent to me by one of my friends from home before I got married.  Then Scott and I went to a marriage conference and it was a recommended read!  Woo Hoo!

I met this young lady (randomly) and was so inspired by her story.  She had so much strength.  When she told me she was an author, I immediately went out and bought her book.  I'll finally be able to read it this summer.

Tara from Little Minds at Work and Lindsey from A Year of Many Firsts are doing a book study this summer.  This is one skill that I really want to improve on for the next school year!

And lastly...
I never even finished the first one!  Is that terrible?  I just never had time!  Now they are making the movie and I want to read them all before it comes out.  What's all the fuss about???

So Link Up!  What's your summer read?

10 Things Linky Party!

I'm linking up with Deanna Jump to talk about the top ten things I want to do this summer!

1.  Spend time with this guy!

It's terrible.  Since we've gotten married I've been bogged down with work and haven't really made any time for us.  This summer, I plan on giving this guy LOTS of attention to make up for a few months of lost time.  That's why its first on my list.

2. Go on a Honeymoon!

Once again, because of work, Scott and I weren't able to go on a honeymoon after the wedding (I only took four days off for the wedding itself).  But we have booked a romantic getaway on June 25th...

Yes, my friends - we are going to St. Lucia!!

3. Go Shopping for My Honeymoon!

Since getting married, I have stressed in several posts that my husband is in full control of the finances.  This is for good reason.  Had my husband not been in full control of the finances I would have already owned the entire Lilly Pulitzer summer collection!
I've managed to snag a few things here and there on Ebay!

4. Visit my family in Florida

Every year, my family packs up and moves to the Keys for 6-8 weeks.  Scott and I are flying out of Miami International so that when we get back from our honeymoon, we can shoot on down to the keys.
My old man is almost 70 years old and can still free dive and spear fish!
My brother...there are no words...

5. Organize and Decorate our House

It's like a never ending job.  And when you have two people that have been single and living on their own and decorating their own houses, you're bound to have disagreements in decor.
I told him I wanted some shelving like this in the master bath.  He said he could make those.  I love my husband but the last DIY he attempted turned into an overnight disaster.
I wish I could blink and I would already be done!
A friend of mine bought us a monogram like this for our wedding...now all I have to do is find a frame!

6. Take up a hobby

I went kayaking yesterday with friends and it was so much fun!  I realized how much I missed being outdoors.  One great thing about living in North Carolina is all the outdoor activities.  I want to get a mountain bike because Raleigh is loaded with trails.
This could possibly be me!!
I also want to get back into tennis this summer.

7. Finish a few projects...for school

I know!  It's terrible!  But I have a few projects that I really need for the next school year and it is my goal to get them done!  This summer!

8. Learn to be a more organized cook!

It'll be 7:00 at night and I'll just be getting back from the grocery store and starting dinner!  (My poor husband)
So what I did was go out and buy a chalkboard for our kitchen wall to organize a menu for the week.  I'll plan the dinners for the week and write it on the board.  Then I'll dig through the freezer and see what meats we have and what we need.  Then I'll shop on Saturday or Sunday to have the meals for the week.
I write this like I do this all the time.  It happened like once.

9.  Enjoy some pool time and adult beverage

Don't these look yummy!
And the pool in my subdivision is OPEN!!

10. Not Worry

I can't keep worrying about what the future holds.  I have to leave it in His hands and trust that I will be okay.

Philippians 4:6-7

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.  If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

So that is my top ten for this Summer!  What's yours?  Link up with Deanna Jump!

Five for Friday and some FREEBIES!

I'm linking up for FIVE FOR FRIDAY!

I'll admit that I'm not very organized.  I'm trying to get better - but it's really difficult!
One thing that I'm doing to get more organized for next year is organize all my math junk.
I went out and bought four tubs and separated all my materials, centers, manipulatives, etc. into whatever standard they are.
Then, all the hard paper copies I separated into this binder.
When you open it up, all the copies are separated by standard.
I went to Wal-Mart and grabbed those heavy duty plastic dividers and labeled them by each standard.
If you want the binder cover and tub labels, you can grab them HERE.

Since my math stuff is so stankin' organized, I was able to quickly find what I needed to teach time.  We used activities from my Time's A Tickin' Pack.
These activities included time sorts...
And while we were sorting, they would draw the hands and write the times on their response sheets.

We also completed a couple of activities in our interactive math notebooks.

Since it's so close to summer, I went ahead and broke out the shells from Florida!
But I didn't want them just playing around and digging in the box.  I wanted them doing something meaningful while still getting to use the shells.  So I created this little activity...

My Teacher's Assistant shrank them two to a page and made them into little booklets.  Each booklet has four pages so they can draw and describe four different shells and one so they can write about their favorite shell - so five total.  And of course, the title page on the front.

My TA ended up stapling the five pages inside a piece of construction paper and gluing the title page on the front.
The activity turned out so dang cute!  They were all asking if they could go to that center!
If you want a copy of the shell observation book, you can get it HERE.

And lastly, one of my students made me Teacher of the Year!  It was so stankin' cute!  I thought this was so clever :)

Okay so I think that was only four...is it okay if we only have four?

Here's a quick number five - how can that face not make ya smile???
