The Sweetest Field Trip...Literally!

It's time to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for our weekly five for Friday!

Our first Easter as a married couple.  Rosco was not cooperating for the camera...

Not to mention it's difficult when someone is not there to take the stinkin picture!

We did a literature unit for Eric Carle's "The Tiny Seed."
I broke the students into pairs and they had to retell the events in the story.

We also used evidence from the text to explain why you couldn't plant seeds in certain places such as the desert, ocean, etc.

I'm REALLY curious...how do you teach your literacy block?  I would LOVE to know what kinds of books you use, how you use them, etc.

In math we are working on fractions.  I used this sort from my Fantastic Fractions pack to help distinguish shapes that are truly partitioned into quarters and those that were not.

Then we completed a similar sort in our interactive notebooks.

Once that was completed, the students had to actually partition the shapes themselves.

On the front of each flap they had to practice writing the fraction.

And today, we went on the most precious, sweetest field trip...

We went to a nursery to pick strawberries!
Each student received their own basket and they got to pick and pick!

It was the most adorable thing and my little friends were so well behaved!
 I was a proud teacher!

If y'all have any advice about your literacy block I'd love to hear it!
Don't forget to link up!

Five for Friday and an Easter giveaway!

I was on Spring Break this week so Scott and I decided to take a mini vacation down to Charleston, SC.  It's so stankin' beautiful down there.  We were only there for a few days since we were trying to get our house under control from the wedding.  We also wanted to be back in time for Easter services :)

My precious husband...how could I not love that face?

Speaking of Easter - the bunny will be visiting us tonight!
I know it's cheesy, but my mom has made my dad an Easter basket for the past 35 years.  So I made one for Scott too.  What's inside:
*golf shirt
*golf magazines
*golf balls
*gum
*beef jerky
*chicken wing pretzel bites
*gummy bears (he likes the ones in the "gold bag")
*milano cookies
*and a ton of other chocolate

And of course I had to make one for Rosco!

I don't know about y'all, but lately (especially since I got married) I've been obsessed with monogram.  Well, there is a Facebook store called Prep Obsessed where you can buy all things preppy and monogrammed.  I'm obsessed with it!

If you "like" them on Facebook, you'll get notified of their flash sales.  And it's super cheap too!
Look at these adorable earrings!  I only paid $19 for them and they were free shipping!  If you're into preppy and monogrammed, you should definitely check them out on Facebook.

And now it's time for a giveaway!
When we get back from Spring Break we will be doing fractions.  The only problem is, our math series doesn't cover fractions - at all.  I needed something that was going to introduce the concept of fractions as well as help them to practice and use those skills they learned.  So I made this pack:

It includes up to seven days of lesson plans, anchor charts, whole group sorts and interactive notebook activities and I'm giving it away free for a limited time!  If you would like to snag yourself one, CLICK HERE.
Don't forget to link up with DoodleBugs to talk about your Five for Friday!

As always, I hope y'all have a fabulous weekend and a Blessed Easter!

A Sneak Peak at my WEDDING!!

I'm just so excited I decided to post a few pics that some guests took with their phones!  My wedding photos aren't even ready yet!

Of course in true Sassy Schoolteacher fashion, I had to say hello to everyone while walking down the aisle!

Can I just tell you how OBSESSED I was with the ceremony location???  It was a true southern Florida wedding!
The entire wedding was my absolute dream!

WAAAY more to come!  I'm just so excited and obsessed with my own wedding!
It went by way to fast!

Currently April!

Just a quick link up with Farley to talk about my Currently in April!

Currently...
Listening to pure silence.  Ahhh...it's going to be chaos come tomorrow afternoon.  We head down to Florida for the wedding festivities!

Loving the fact that I'm getting married in four days.  The time has gone by so fast!

Thinking:  I LOVE to shout, "I'm the BRIDE!!!"  I won't be able to say it anymore after Saturday.  I was also wondering what I was going to pin on Pinterest considering that all I pin is wedding stuff.

Wanting some extra sleep.  I have not slept hardly at all this week.

Needing a spray tan.  The sun is just starting to come out in the Tar Heel State and I don't have time to get sun-kissed.  Bring on the spray!!

I don't go to school until 8:00.  I HATE getting out so late in the day.  In Florida I was out at 2:30 every day.  And I don't know when our last day is...I haven't even looked at the revised schedule from the snow days.  I have an excuse!!!  I'M THE BRIDE!!!
